☕ MAGIC MUSE LIVE CHECK-IN

How's everybody doing out there?

Still creating?

Still caffeinated? ☕

Still know where your scissors are? ✂️

Take a second between workshops and tell us your favorite moment from the live day so far.

It can be something you learned, something you made, something that made you laugh, or one of those little moments when an idea suddenly CLICKED.

Started my journal by making 4 pages using a 6x6 paper pad and coordinating tidbits I have stored in bead boxes over the years. YaY !!!

🤔 MAGIC MUSE QUESTION

Before we dive too far into our live day:

What is ONE thing you want to take away from today?

Maybe there's a technique you want to learn, an Muse you can't wait to create with, a project you want to start, a question you want answered, or maybe you simply want a day to sit down and CREATE.

No giant goals required.

Sometimes the best thing we can take away from a creative day is the feeling that we actually gave ourselves one. 🎨🖌️🖍️💖

I'm actually excited aobut the zines!! I've made bigger ones but not tiny ones. :)

Create matching ephemera

You can create ephemera that matches the retreat theme by taking a printable, such as the Bingo card, and opening it in paint. See photos below for demonstration.

Use the selector tool to put a box around the image you want to keep and select CROP. Save that image to your computer.

When you have an image (or several) you want to then print, go to the folder you saved them in and highlight them.  Right click and select PRINT - may be under “Show More Options”.

Thank you Holly for sharing this!! Great idea! For those that have a Canva Pro account, this can also be done there.

Tip for elastic string

I was trying to attach my signatures in a simple way for now but the knot kept slipping. Then it came to me... binder clips! (I happened to have a couple sitting on my desk.) When attempting to tie elastic string to hold your signature without it being too loose, use a binder clip. It will hold it taut while you tie the tails into a bow.

Congrats!!

👩‍🔬🥼 Inquiring Minds Want To Know…..

We have a very serious Autumn Muse question.

What craft or journal supply can you absolutely NOT resist? 🎨🖌️

Paper? Washi? Stickers? Old books? Fabric? Stamps? Pens? Ephemera?

Maybe you already own enough of it to last approximately 147 years but continue buying it because THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT.

We understand.

This is a judgment-free research study. 😂

Lately, journal papers and ephemera

🤔 Question?

What has inspired you the most so far?

Maybe it's a technique from one of the workshops, a freebie you already have plans for, something another journaler shared in the group, or an idea that popped into your head while you were watching.

And if one idea turned into six completely unrelated project ideas...🎨

Welcome. You are among your people.

🤔 Inquiring Minds Want To Know…..

Okay, Journalers...now that we've officially started:

What is ONE thing you've been wanting to try in your journal 📖 but haven't yet?

Maybe it's a technique you've been nervous to attempt, a supply you bought six months ago and still haven't opened, a style that's completely outside your comfort zone, or something you've seen another creator do and thought, I really want to try that.

No promises that you'll actually get to it this week. 😂

We just want to know what's been sitting on your creative “someday” list. 🖇️📜

And who knows? Maybe Autumn Muse is the week “someday” finally shows up. 🔮

I've always wanted to make a journal out of a little golden book. I've collected quite a few over the last couple years, but have always felt like I wasn't ready to get started, like I didn't know what to do. I now feel that after this retreat I will have the confidence to get started making one.

I am A 78 y.o. widow, that doesn't always remember that I have a 78 y.o. body. I do things with my hands other than paper drafts. I (try to) paint on canvas, I manage a community garden that is one and one-half lot with raised beds, community beds, compost bins, etc., I do all my own yard work when it's not 1000 degrees outside. I do some DIY that is not limited to painting walls, wall papering walls, cleaning, and I DO NOT COOK. I retired once then started again and I have officially retired. It's only me and I find salads are just perfect for my meals. I have a house next door to my house that is my "Studio." Tons of art supplies and scrapbook items are stored there. It is under DIY construction, but, I also have a place to scrap, jj, make cards, etc. at my house house. I have been getting everything in order for my children (58 and 56) when I die. I don't want them to have to deal with all my stuff. That's my life, very busy, also volunteer at a Food Pantry and i belong to and attend church and Bible study. All in all, my health is very good and I have no diseases to cope with, just over use of my hands and back have slowed me considerably. But, I am off to do something fun. Looking forward to the Muse

Email address

Linda Strahl-- we talked about exchanging email addresses during a chat earlier today so you could send me stuff for my K-Pop Demon Hunters Junk Journal. I have not figured out how to send you my email without posting it for everyone. Any idea how to do that?

Hello from Delaware! I went through today and downloaded as much as I could so I could make plans and I am so excited and inspired. I never really understood the junk journal thing until reading things today and I think it has finally clicked and boy are the ideas flowing! (it could be the meds making me think they are good ideas and that I get it though)

One Week!

Can y’all believe we kick off the retreat with Pajama Maker Night in ONE WEEK?! My brain is doing tiny cartwheels and my scissors are already vibrating with excitement. ✂️💫

I’m so curious — how do you get ready for retreats? Do you have a cozy little ritual? Do you prep like a crafty squirrel gathering supplies? 🐿️✨ Or do you just float in on a cloud of creative chaos once everything begins?☁️🪄 Let us know in the comments!

Personally, I love printing and prepping anything I can ahead of time. It helps me see if I need to restock paper, glue, or… let’s be honest… finally give in and buy a few new supplies. 📜🧵✨ It also gives me space to prep projects early if needed.

Monique and I are here to help you get set up too! Make sure you’re registered for PJ Maker Night on the 21st (next Tuesday!).…

For retreats, I print things out and make sure I've got my notebook out for note taking. I'm the type of person who watches crafting videos & takes notes, then I rewatch while creating the project.
